Today we looked at Langston Hughes’ poem, “Dreams,” as our poem of the day. Each day with the poem of the day you should answer the following questions:

  1. What is the title and author of the poem?
  2. How would you describe the theme of the poem?
  3. Which line best illustrates the theme?
  4. Is there a rhyme scheme with this poem, or is it more free verse?
  5. What other poetry techniques are being used in this poem? (Use your notes.)

Make sure to write the answers to the question in your class notebook, which you should bring with you everyday.

After looking at the poem of the day we focused today on alliteration and assonance. If you were absent there is a worksheet you can pick up and complete for today.
