Journal prompt: Choose one artifact from the presentation yesterday and describe its use in the culture and symbolism associated with it.

Alternate Journal prompt:If you didn’t attend the presentation yesterday here is an alternate journal prompt: Why do you think Wash devotes an entire week to the celebration of cultural diversity? Why is it important?

In third hour we began with a spelling quiz over the commonly misspelled words.

Next we went over a handout on how to read a short story.

After that we began our work with “Harrison Bergeron” by making a T chart over advantages and disadvantages of everyone being equal. (5th hour you did all of this yesterday because there was no presentation during your hour.)

After the T chart I asked everyone to fill out the pre-reading work on in their journals. Next we read the story aloud in class. After the story I asked everyone to complete the post-reading questions in their journals, making sure to cite specific evidence from the text.
